On Thursday, December 13th (MEET JCs 6.30pm). The Christmas Ball costs £25. For this, you get a 3 course meal (see emails/fb for menu), a bus to the King Arthur Hotel on the Gower and back, a DJ, music, dancefloor and bar. The dress code is smart, so you'll get a chance to see how everyone looks in their finery. The highlight of the social calender!

Hello to our new members and welcome back to our returning members. All of us in the hiking committee are happy to see you and are hoping you're as excited for a new year of walks and socials as we are.

For those returning members who saw us at freshers fayre you'll have noticed that there have been many changes over this past summer. The merging of the SU with the AU has finally arrived. We are now no longer Athletic Union, but the new sport brand "Sport Swansea". Hopefully this will improve the experience we can give to you our members.

The joining process of Sports clubs this year has changed dramatically - You need a brand new sport Swansea membership to join any sports club now - these are available online here. The Sport Swansea membership will give you a transaction number (always useful to keep)and will be automatically added to your student union account. Due to the new SU update, your SU account is now the same as your university account and can be accessed through your university login details. You can now join the club online at your convenience, here.

Our hikes are all day activities and we aim to get back home around 6:00pm. You will need food, water, a waterproof coat and suitable footwear.

One last final thing we have a new email address for you to contact us with, it's hiking@swansea-union.co.uk .

Hello everyone! Hope you are all having a good holiday.

The committee are working hard to get everything ready for the coming year and the new walks program is now availiable through the walks tab above. For the club veterans who are returning this year we look forward to seeing you at fresher's fayre, for those of you who have never joined us before here is a quick guide on how to join our hiking group...

* First you need to join the Athletic Union (AU), they oversee all sports at Swansea university and you cannot participate with any of the student sports clubs before you have joined them, this is beacuse they provide our insurance and also for other legal and financial reasons. To join the AU visist their website (www.suau.co.uk), click the 'membership' tab on the navigation bar and then follow the instructions.

* After filling out the AU's forms you get a confirmation page, print this and take it to the AU stand fresher's fayre where you will be given an AU card! This is your ticket to join more than 40 sports clubs!!

* Next come and find the HIKING CLUB stand!!! We can sign you up to the club there and then and you can book your place on one of our first walks.

We look forward to meeting you!

Not sure if hiking is for you? Our walks are of varying lengths from 6 to 14miles and guided by a committee member or competent walk leader, we won't rush you or force you to walk faster than you feel comfortable. We visit some awesome locations including local areas like the Gower peninsula and the Brecon beacons as well as longer trips to areas like Exmoor and the Peak district. Checkout our photos in the gallery!
