On the psychology of progress bars..
It seems progress bars draw people in..
There have been at least 2 occasions in recent weeks where everyone entering the lounge being faced with at least one other person watching a progress bar has joined in, seemingly forgetting what ever it was they were doing in the first place.
What is it about progress bars that make them so compelling?

Reminds me of my love/hate relationship with the Azureus BitTorrent client (azureus.sf.net). It has many many different pretty progress bars for me to look at, but when I'm downloading something I'm unable to do anything apart from watching them gradually fill up. Might be fun to try and devise a system for monitoring progress which is less interesting to look at :-)

Fe4r teh blue bars. Also, they're fun! It's not like I've had work or anything to actually do, either.
