Who watches the Wedgeman?

A New Beginning

Well, term seems to be back and I'm slowly getting into the swing of waking up earlier and doing stuff. I've still got rather a lot of reading to do: James Joyce's 'Ulysses' being the most impressive. 933 pages of modernist experimentation, I hope I survive the journey. Today I'll be starting the Shakespeare. I'm not entirely certain which plays we're going to look at (I've got a shortlist of eight (it may not be a shortlist, actually, I'm not certain) to read over) but it should be very interesting to find out. It should also be interesting to meet some of the people there, hopefully. The only minor gripe is that a seminar of hopefully no more than 20 of us seems to be in the enormous Arts Hall/Taliesin Annexe. Oh well, at least I know Glyn Pursglove has the ability to project his voice and be generally an excellent lecturer. I look forward to it all.

What else have I been up to? Well, I managed to get together with James, Phil, Mark, Mike and Sam for a very, very great deal of gaming indeed which was generally enormous fun all around. I sent almost my entire army on a brutal forced march from Siam to Central America (the long way around, via the Middle East, Africa, and all of South America). If I'd managed to kill just seven more troops, the game would have been mine. Curses etc. Fortunately, my insane plan seemed to inspire insanity in all the other players who, in true WW1 meatgrinder style, mashed their armies into one another and eventually got killed. Phil won by not rolling as badly as everyone else (especially Mike whose luck seemed appalling).

Other than that, I've been enjoying Fable (even though getting my save game from home to work seems to have proven to be impossible) as an evil mage. I always feel like Emperor Palpatine, cackling as lightning projected from my fingertips fries my enemies. It was really nice to go home and see my parents, actually. It made me realise how much I miss them sometimes because they're fun and nifty and stuff. If you guys are reading this (and dad probably is) then you're awesome. Andy, if you're reading this, I'm sure you've got some work you're meant to be doing... or you could play Wind Waker... [mystical fairy voice with sparkly sounds in the background]wiiinnd waaakeer.[/mystical fairy voice with sparkly sounds in the background] Right, back to the real world, I think. Until next time...

I read it too! (yay me)

(in fact, I've been checking the SUCS blogs on a regular basis these days in an effort to find out any brother-related incidents.) :D
