Excess Packaging: The Reply
Today, I received a reply from Scan:
Hi Denis,
I am writing to follow up your email from 11th January, in which you quite rightly pointed out an unusually high amount of bubble wrap used to pad out your product. Having looked at your pictures I must say I agree with you completely. I have never in all the years I have worked here seen them use so much bubble wrap for such a small single item and I couldn't believe it when I saw it! Talk about overkill! :)
I did go downstairs and speak to the warehouse manager and I discovered that the member of staff who wrapped it had actually just joined us and was still in the process of going through his on-the-job training. He is of course being monitored but this one seems to have slipped through the net. Please be assured this isn't the norm! He has learned from this example and it won't happen again, so I do thank you for your feedback.
I hope the information I have given to you is helpful and, of course I truly hope your faith has not been dented beyond repair we do not wish to lose you as a customer. Our growth and development over the past 20 years has been largely due to return business from long-standing customers.
Kind regards,
Roxane Wilkinson
Customer Support Manager
