Hello everyone! Hope all those who went to the Lakes had a great time and enjoyed themselves, it was definately a good week. There are now some Lake District photos up on the website with hopefully more to follow; don't forget to get in touch if you want your photographs from the trip to appear. If you still have other photos from walks this year lying around that you would like to appear on the website get in touch as well!
Hope everybody has had a fantastic year hiking; if you won't be around next year try to stay in touch. Look forward to seeing most of you in September along with loads of new members. Have a great summer everyone!
Hello everyone, hope revision is going well! Although we have no more Sunday walks this academic year, we have one last big trip after the exams to The Lake District. This will be an unforgettable trip to the wonderful Lakes. We should have four days of walking, plenty of time for a good wander.
We will be staying at the strangely named Cokermouth Swallow Barns. They are one level up from camping so you will need sleeping bags but there are showers. You will need to bring your own food and preferably something to cook with. We will take a kettle and toaster. Some stoves are available to share but if you have your own that's great! There is always a need for more saucepans! Don't forget cutlery, a plate and a mug.
You can sign up today (Friday) and be warned this trip will fill up fast. It will cost £60 to provide for transport and accommodation and you will need to pay a £30 deposit.
If you have any photographs from the last few walks, or any walks this year, and would like them to appear on the website, please contact the webmaster (
webmaster{at}hiking.org.uk).
Hi everyone, hope those who did the Sponsored Walk yesterday enjoyed themselves. If you have sponsor money could you bring it to us along with your sponsorship form by sign up on Friday 16th May. Also if you ordered a t-shirt we are refunding £3 for each t-shirt, you can collect this at sign up.
Our next social, Wednesday 30th April, is Orientbeering! This is a fun afternoon activity where you use a map and clues to find beer, sweets and crisps. Members and friends can take part, entry is just £1 and you need to book in advance.
Our next walk is St Davids and the Pembrokeshire Coast. This walk is very popular and includes St Davids historic Cathedral and the delightful little village of Solva. To sign up meet us in JC's this Wednesday or Friday lunchtime.

You have a choice of this t-shirt in Ash or Yellow, or both of course if you want. If you really can't make it to sign up and want to buy a t-shirt please email us. They will then be available for collection after the Easter holidays.
Really sorry everyone but the Rhinogs weekend away has been cancelled again. Unfortunately we were unable to get a minibus due to British Universities Sports Association matches taking priority on minibuses over normal clubs. You can get a refund for this walk at sign up today or next week. Sorry again for this sad news.
Coming up on Sunday 27th April will be the Rhossili -> Swansea Sponsored Walk. This walk will be in aid of the Brecon Mountain Rescue Team. Their services are free to those in need and staffed by volunteers so this is a very worthy cause. You can download a Sponsorship Form by clicking here. If you can't make the walk you can still raise money. This will be a nice long, but flat walk along the beautiful South coast of the Gower, 26 miles to Swansea! You don't need to be a Hiking member to take part so invite your friends!
Hi everyone. Since cancelling it last week, the Rhinogs (Snowdonia) Weekend Away will take place this weekend, Friday 7th -> Sunday 9th March. We shall meet behind Fulton House at 4pm on Friday (if you can't make this time contact us), and you need to bring your hiking gear, food and a sleeping bag for bedding. Take your luggage to Friday's sign up if you can, so things can be loaded onto the minibus quicker. Cooking facilities, showers and mattresses are all provided by the accommodation. If you haven't paid in full yet please bring your money at Wednesday's sign up.
On Wednesday (tomorrow) we will be going to Laser Zone. Come along if you can, we should be playing two games and going for drinks afterwards. Meeting place will be at Yates for 7.15pm, being at Laser Zone for 8pm. Bring your student cards along so that you can get a discount.
Finally there are changes in dates for some upcoming walks. Glamorgan Heritage Coast which also couldn't take place last week is rescheduled for Sunday 20th April, and sign up starting this week. The sponsored walk from Rhossili to Swansea has been changed to take place on Sunday 27th April. This is in aid of Mountain Rescue and you will be hearing more about the sponsored walk soon so keep checking your emails. Thanks for reading!

Hi everyone, Could anyone who has photographs from Sugar Loaf or Chepstow-Tintern email the webmaster and we can arrange to meet up/email photos. Many thanks to you all.
Well done to those hardy hikers who braved the rain on Sunday to practise their navigation in the low cloud and driving rain. You all did very well and seemed to pick up new ideas very quickly. More to follow soon including a piece on the website...
