Yesterday saw a bit of a nil-nil draw regarding lunch. And I don't know why. Will discuss more later.

Executive report for Council October 2003
The first epoch of the year has seen many varied tasks concern me. Freshers was a mad rush of meeting people and seeing old friends return. The accomodation scandal has been tough on a lot, yet it is a credit to us all that students have been so good at coping in the face of adversity. My main successes so far have been in writing an article for Waterfront, getting the price of cheese reduced in Le Cafe (small victories, many of them), and my work towards the march.
I have also attended an event called "the big welsh one" which shocked and dismayed me regarding the state of NUS UK and NUS Wales. Both organisations exhibit a distinct cancerous growth of career political hacks. While some within our Union may think of me in such a caste, the level to which this is shown at a higher level worries me intensely. Yet as a great person once said: "You've got to be in it to win it."
The one worry I have for the future, is the lack of direction the Union exhibits at times. Communication is discinctly poor currently and I am troubled by the lack of cohesive understanding within both the executive and the Sabbatical team at times. The left hand needs to know what the right is doing for them to clap. My aim then is to try to help bridge these divides and also to get more information into the hands of the students. Also I hope to play a part in the drafting of a SUSU vision for the Union role within the University over the next decade.
