First Social

Welcome to all the new members who have joined us at Fresher's Fayre and welcome back to our returning members.

Our first social is a change from the advertised billing and will be a pub meal at Pub On the Pond this Thursday, starting at 7pm, just look out for people in the Lib Dem t-shirts.

Peter Black AM, Assembly member for South Wales West on Thursday morning and Lembit Opik MP leader of the Welsh Liberal Democrats on Thursday Afternoon!

If you want to come and meet them they will be at the Lib Dem Stall inside the fresher's marquee.

Special Conference Called

Statement from Elgan Morgan, Chair of Conference Committee for the Welsh Liberal Democrats.

Elgan Morgan, Chair of Conference Committee, said:

"The Chief Executive has today received requests from 20 conference representatives to go ahead with a special conference to discuss the document negotiated with Plaid Cymru and the Conservatives in the Assembly. Under the party?s rules, it is now up to conference committee to arrange such a conference.

"Given that Saturday is already in diaries, I have decided that special conference will go ahead this Saturday at the Metropole Hotel, Llandrindod Wells. Starting at 10.30am."

Lib Dems vote not to go into coalition

Last night a meeting of the Welsh Liberal Democrats National Executive voted to not support a Rainbow Coalition with Plaid and Tories. Comment by Mike German AM on the decision here.

Lib Dems miss by a whisker in Swansea West

The Swansea West Candidate Peter May came within almost 1,500 of taking the constituancy from the current Labour AM, Andrew Davis, while Plaid trailed behind with less then 16% of the vote*. This monumental task could not have been achieved without the help of the local LDYS group on eletion day and throughout the campaign period

The Welsh Liberal Democrats have held all three constituency seats with comfort, with the lists already returning Mike German and Eleanor Burnham. We are still a waiting the results of the South West Wales list to see if Peter Black has been returned to the Assembly.

Polling Station for Campus

Thanks to a campaign initiated by the Liberal Democrat Youth and Student group at the University we now have a polling station on campus. The Polling Station which will be for the people staying at the Halls of Residences on campus will be open in Fulton House.
