The statue of James Henry Greathead outside Bank tube station in the City of London. Greathead was the chief engineer of the City and South London Railway and inventor of the travelling sheild that made possible the cutting of the tunnels of London's deep level Tube system.
The City and South London Railway was one of the precessors to today's London Underground Northern Line, the platforms for which at Bank are on the same site as the C&SLR's City station.
