Looking south from the road bridge south of Bridgwater station in Somerset. The two left tracks are part of the Great Western mainline continues south from here towards Taunton, where it meets the West of England Main Line, and then on to Exeter (where the South West Main Line meets), Plymouth and Penzance.
The line on the right appears to be a disued loop for northbound trains, it is partly overgrown and no longer connected to the main line at the southern end. The line would also have given access to and from a south-facing bay platform adjacent to the present northbound platform at the station, with a crossover to the southbound line at the start of the curve in the distance.
