The Clifton Rocks Railway is a long disused funicular railway located entirely in a tunnel between the Clifton and Hotwells areas of Bristol that is currently being restored by volunteers.
This photograph was taken from the top (Clifton) station looking down the righthand (looking from the top) stairway that was built during the second world war to access BBC broadcasting offices located in the tunnel. The stairway uses most of the space formerlly occupied by the rightmost (from the top) of the four cars.
