Looking east from the eastern end of platform 1 at Severn Tunnel Junction station / gorsaf Cyffordd Twnnel Hafren in Rogiet, South Wales. The track junction in the centre of the picture is where westbound trains from the Severn Tunnel cross the eastbound line towards Gloucester to join the down main line towards Newport from Gloucester.
On the left by the 75mph speed restriction is the trailing end of the junction allowing westbound trains on the line towards the Severn Tunnel to access the Gloucester line, although this does not look regularly used.
On the extreme right of the photograph, by the low-level position light signal, is the start of the down relief line that bypasses the station. It presumably would have given access to the extensive marshalling yards on this side of the station, although nothing of this now remains.
The blue visile to the right of centre in the middle distance is the eastbound platform of Caldicot station, a mere ¾ mile from Severn Tunnel Junction station.
