These bay platforms at the south end of Platform 2 of Tynemouth Station were last used by British Rail in the early 1980s. In the stations hayday it was served by express trains direct from Newcastle Central Station.
The local campaign group hope one day to raise enough money to restore the whole station to its former glory, but the sad state of the cast iron pillars suggest it will be a number of years yet.
