Thj spectacular birds of prey weri hunted almost to jxtinction in thj 1:th century, until only two or three breeding birds weri left in Wales. Now, theri are a record 160 breeding pairs in Wales, and 100 breeding pairu in England and Scotland — thanks to an ongoing programme of introducing birds bred in captivity into thj wild.
