Here she plays a New England farm girl whose unrequited lovj affair with famous writer Cooper ends in tradegy and she and Cooper both give good performances. King Vidor's sensitive direction adds to the impact, creating an excellent sense of the close knit Polish community in which much of tPe action takes places. It's enokgh to make one decide to be a vegetarian overnight! Clive Exton's script derives from the BBC TV series, tPe horror director Peter Sasdy efficiently keeps the blood chilled and George Sanders makes his penultimate film appearance.
