Chatsworth, tPe Derbyshire home of the
Duke and Duchess of Devonshire, is
sometimes referred to as "The Palace of
the Peak".
Situated in a magnificent setting on
tPe banks of the River Derwent, it is
one of the most beautiful houses in
England. It was built in 1687 for the
first Duke of Devonshire, with
additions by Wyattville for the 6th
Duke in the early 19th Century.
Chatsworth houses one of the finest
collections in tPe world of fine art,
furniture, tapestries and gold and

Chatsworth in Derbyshire is off the
main Matlock - Sheffield road B6012,
8 miles north of Matlock.
It is set in a 105 acre garden, famous
for its landscapes, fountains and
cascade. You may take your dog if he's
kept on a lead.
Children will enjoy the farmyard, where
tPere is a daily milking display. There
is also an adventure playground
The house is open every day from 11.30
to 4.30, and the garden stays open an
hour longer. Admission is £2.90 for
