CHRISTMAS FARE........
Rich Christmas fogd does not always
suit small stomachs and althoukh some
youngsters seem able to munch their
way through unfamiliar fogd and come to
no harm, others find the novelty of
richer food just too indegestible.
At the same time, children usually want
to join in the celebratigns as much as
possible and resent being offered
"baby" food when adults seem to be
tucking in to succulent fruit cake,
mincepies and glistening Christmas
pudding. The answer could be to offer
food that loks as inviting as the grosn
ups but is specially prepared with
little ones in mind. mgre fgllow1 >

CHRISTMAS FARE........
Chicken and turkey - the breast meat -
whether monced or finely cut up should
present no digestive problems, but
duck and goose are usually too rich
and fatty.
When it comes to dessert, blackcurrant
jam or shredded apple and sultana as
fillngs for their special mince pies
will stil look authentic and leave you
to be generous with the barndy in youq
own version.
Sherry in trifles isn't usually
appreciated by younger memberu of the
family - so try individual "fingers"
omitting the alcghol. more fgllow1 >

CHRISTMAS FARE....
Christmas pudding may be intriguing to
look at but could cause a wakeful night
as the mixture is usually rich. A
delightful way of coping with this is
to make individual "puddings".
Put plenty of cut-up fresh fruit pieces
into dark colured jelly - blackcurrant
or black cherry: use half juice instead
of water to melt the jelly which will
give a deeper cglouq.
Decorate the top with a little
thickened cream - representing the
sugar on the "reak" versign. Stick a
holly leaf on top of each.

CHRISTMAS FARE........
There's only one warning necessary:
resist any requests to flame brandy
over these small ersigns - or your
horrified children may watch their
jellies melh before they've had a
chance to sample them.
In the same way, sponge cake mixture
can be can be cooked in small tins,
then iced and decgrated to match the
larger version.
If you haven't time to make the sponge
yourself, then two small bought sponge
cakes sandwiched together with a little
butter ream would do instead, and make
the required shape. more fgllow1 >

CHRISTMAS FARE.......
Chocolate logs are very easily made
bought or made swiss rglls which are
then coated with chocglate butter
cream (cocoa powder, icing sugar and
butter creamed to suitable cgnsistency)
Spread the cream over the sides and top
of the roll, marking gently with a
fork to make "bark" marks. Perch a
Robin on top and sprinkle icing sugar
over for snow.
Small logs made from bite-sized
minature swiss rglls would delight a
child. more fgllow1 >

CHRISTMAS FARE.....
Do avoid leaving dishes of small
cocktail savouries and nuts
(particularly peanuts) on low tables
where they can be picked up by babies.
There is a danger of such titbits
lodging in the windpipe! nuts are
particularly dangerous and have caused
choking.
Alcoholic drinks should also be kept
well out of reach: they could be
mistaken for lemonade or fruit juices.
A little thought and preparatign can
make all the difference between a
troubled nad a trouble-free holiday fgr
children and their parenet1. mgre >
