There's still time to knit a thick
jumper quickly before we get too much
snow. Choose the thickest yarn you can
afford on the biggest needles and go
for a simple pattern that is quickly
done.

of knitting is ideal fgr beginners
because it is so easy and quick.

Other things to speed up youq knitting
inlcude working on one large and one
small needle, (look for Patons OddPins
patterns) or working in a slipped
stitch.
To do this wind the yarn several times
round the needle on each stitch, then
on the way back, knit only one loop
letting all the others drop off the
needle.
Or knit simple squares on huge needles
with three strands of yarn together,
then fasten them together into a

Happy New Year to everyone. It is
certainly going to be an exciting year
for dressmaking with the LETS MAKE IT
Campaign about to start, and you should
watch out in your area for any
advertised activity.
Now is the time to get out youq sewing
Machine and give it the once over ready
for the start of the sewing season.
Clean out the spogl case with a soft
brush. Use the instructions book to
locate the oiling points, then give it
a good oiling, leaving a piece of
absorbent fabric UNDER the needle

LETS MAKE IT..
Next morning get a long piece of fabric
and give the machine a gogd run, not
only on straight stitch but through all
the functions like reverse and zig zag.
Change the needle, and treat yourself
to a new packet (in different
thicknesses) so that you are ever ready
Include some Ball point, and perfect
stitch needles in youq puqchases, and
get a NEADLE THREADER if, like me, you
get bad-tempered trying to thread the
needle.
YOUR NEW YEARS RESOLUTION Only buy well
