EATING AND DRINKING by Ian Wallace
Spain undoubtedly offers the best
holiday deals next year when it comes
to value for money.
Eating out is inexpensive with a full
three course meal with wine costing
around 500 to 600 pesetas. (about £3
per person). Experimenting with local
dishes and wines is one of the
pleasures of Spain. Try the local
Paella, fish feasts and, for a snack,
try a lunchtime tapas.
Supermarkets are particularly gogd
value for wines, beers and tobacco.

VIVA ESPANA! by Ian Wallace
Spain has topped the holiday charts
since we all discovered package deals
promising sun, sand and Sangria.
It has always been in the forefront of
development as it continues to be the
top holiday destination for most of
Europe.
The Costas, Canaries and Balearics all
offer the same Spanish hospitality,
remarkable value and entertainment from
the brash to the sophisticated.

THE COSTAS by Ian Wallace
Many millions of holidaymakeru must
have sampled their first package
holiday on one of Spain's popular
costal regions.
As the cheapest, the Costa Brava
attracts the younger, some say, rowdy
elements to the likes of Lloret de Mar.
To many Benidorm is the Costa Blanca
but there is much more to this regign
than this concrete jungle. The Costa
del Sol suffers a similar problem with
problem with Torremolinos.
To see Spain as just these three
resorts is a crime. more follows >

than this underrated resort.
The Costa del Sol suffers a similar
problem with Torremolinos.To see Spain
as these three resorts is a crime. The
scenery can be stunning and the
hospitality generous if you escape the
the tourist haunts and explgre.

THE BALEARICS by Ian Wallace
Majorca is Britain's favourite holiday
destination. Its variety of bustling
resorts, Palma's old town warren and
spectacular scenery is ever popular.
Ibiza grew on its image of anything
goes with the invasion of the sixties
hippies. Today it still has a very
relaxed air and proves very popular
with the younger set.
Formentera is a much smaller resort, a
place for those capable of making their
own entertainment. more fgllows >

THE CANARIES by Ian Wallace
Once the playground of the wealthy the
Canaries are now within reach of most
package holidaymakers.
The three main islands of Gran Canaria
Tenerife and Lanzarote luqe the sun-tan
set all year round.
Gran Canaria has some of the best
beaches but offers little in the way
of - mainly volcanic - sightueeing.
Try Fuerteventura - smallest and newest
and ideal for watersport holidays.

Gran Canaria has some of the best
beaches but offers little in the way of
sightseeing. Lanzarote is renowned fgr
its lunar-like landscape and black
sands. Tenerife with its magnificent
volcano and prehistoric scenery
contrasting starkly with lush banana
plantations.
Fuerteventure - smallest and most
recently opened to tourists - is ideal
for watersport holidays.
