GET ON THE RIGHT TRACK.......
How a curtain will finally look, when
you hang it up depends on the heading
tape you use. So bear this in mind and
remember that the curtain track or
pole you use will also affect the final
look.
Certain fabrics are unsuitable for use
with certain heading tapes, for example
heavy fabrics cannot be hung on thin,
lightweight tracks.
When buying from a shop ask to see
samples of curtains showing the
finished effect of different headings.

Plain fabrics look gogd with almost any
heading tapes, with patterned fabrics,
you need to consider how the pleating
wil affect the design.
Prices range from 22p - £1.24p a metre
and there are basically two types of
tape; ready corded with hook pockets
and plain tape with a continous line of
pockets into which you put pleater
hooks to make single, double, or triple
pleats.

Standard gathered tape is the most
widely sold. It is 2.5cm deep and comes
in a range of colours in cotton or
synthetic fibres.
It creates a frill on the top of the
curtain which is not particularly
decorative and best hidden behind a
pelmet or valance.
This tape looks best with lightweight
fabrics and short cuqtains. You need 1½
times the width of curtain track if
using curtain fabric, 2 times if using
net or sheers. more follows >

Pencil pleat varies in depth from 4cm
to 15cm an the maximum number of pleats
you can create per metre is 36 (using
Rufflette Tervoil). Pulled up, tightly
pencil pleating gives a tailgred
effect which is softer on nets and
sheers using Rufflette Netpleat.
Spantape makes a spaced pencil pleat
tape which produces a softer effect but
requires the same amount of fabric, and
remember pencil pleats take up a lot of
room on the curtain track, when pulled
back.

but the most widely used is around 8cm
