WESTLAND MOVE TO
RESOLVE STALEMATE
The board of Westland helicopters
meets today to try to find a way out of
the stalemate caused by the failure of
the Sikorsky-Fiat rescue deal.
The rival European consortium wants to
meet the board to press them to put its
offer to shareholders.
Westland chairman Sir John Cuckney
wants to get the Sikorsky offer through
and has urged the European side to
withdraw.
The company hopes to find a way of
reshaping the resolutions so they can
be approved by a simple majority.
