A boardroom shuffle has been the

administration at French Kier group.
Beazer chairman Brian Beazer is taking
over the helm while fgrmer Kier boss

are leaving the company.
Metals group McKechnie Brothers has
turned to the market in search of
shares in its bid tar£et Newman Tonks.
Paying around 136.5p a share, it has
lifted its stake in the engineering and
building products firm to 9.5%.

BREWERY TRADE SET
FOR FURTHER MERGER
There are signs a further link up in
the brewery trade may be in the offing
following the recent Wolverhampton &
Dudley move for Davenports Breweries.
Shares in pubs group Inn Leisure and
one of the few remaining quoted
independent brewers JA Devenish have
been suspended pending an announcement.
Hosiery specialist Atkins Brothers
has revealed it is holding talks which
may lead to a full bid for the company.
News of the approach sent Atkins shares
30p higher to 188p.

KENNEDY BROOKES
MOVES INTO HOTELS
Restauranteurs Kennedy Brookes is
making a decisive move into hotels,
setting up a separate hotel division
trading as Distinctive Inns.
Each of the group's existing premises,
which all have restaurants, will be
upgraded and further "character hotels"
will be sought, the company says.
Kennedy Brookes is also entering into
a £20m venture with Grosvenor Square
Properties to redevelop the London
Pavilion at Piccadilly Circus.
The development, along the Trocadero
lines, is likely to include a permanent
