The bridge will link Berks and Bucks so walkers can avoid taking detours along main roads while following the proposed 163 mile-long Thames Walk from Thamesdown in the Cotswolds to westminster. The water authority there has approved public access over the weir and will make safety improvements to the site. RA members have cleared paths, tidied areas and celebrated their 50th anniversary last year by building their 100th wooden stile on footpaths around the Isle of Wight.
