The Venetian Riviera has some of the best beaches on the Adriatic Coast with the backdrop of Venice as an added attraction. Florence - home of some of the World's great art treasures and architecture. The special tourist menus tend to be bland and unimaginative. You'll find better value in a trattoria or pizzeria rather than a restaurant. Look out for cover charges - if it's more than 2500 lira (around £1.25 a head) it's expensive. A word of warning - avoid pavement cafes - they are very expensive.
