A network of public footpaths crosses
the southern end of the Pennines and
the Peak Park has produced booklets
with notes on the region for visitors
to follow.
But the Park is quick to point out the
dangers of exploring in bad weather,
as we have now... more follows >

SAFETY ON THE ROADS..
Swedish car manufacturers, Volvo, are
doing their bit to help road safety -
and cyclists and pedestrians could
benefit too.
They have set up a Volvo Traffic safety
Award of £45,000 to go to institutions
or individuals contributing to traffic
safety in '86 European Road Safety Year
Safer traffic environment begins with
the planning stages; this means better
design and construction of pavements,
cycleways, bus lanes and highway exits
they say, plus better lighting, signals
and information systems,and, of course,
maintenance. more follows >

OFF YOUR BIKE?
Have you ever been involved in a
cycling accident while being overtaken
by a motorist? If so, and if you could
bear to relive the experience, you
could help with a survey on the subject
Dr Roland Graham of The University,
Liverpool, is currently making a study
into the way motorists overtake
cyclists, with a view to understanding
how accidents result and how they can
be avoided. He's particularly keen to
know what traffic conditions were like
at the time. more follows >

OFF YOUR BIKE? - 2
Cyclists who have have been involved in
an accident caused by a motorist over-
taking them should contact Dr Roland
Graham at the Department of Applied
Mathematics, The University, PO Box 147
Liverpool L69 3BX.Home tel:051 625 9094
It would be handy if a friend or other
witness of the accident could answer
questions too, as they would probably
have been more aware of traffic
conditions around than the unfortunate
who was injured!
What he does with the survey's results
depends on the findings. more >
