There are some things that are 0
obligatory if you are a TV tough
guy.
You drive around in "souped up Ford
Capris weaing tight underpants",
if you "fight international
terrorism, you pull the birds" - and
you invariably need a psychiatrist.
The Bullshitters (tomorrow at 10pm)
is a brilliant take-off of British
TV cops, The Professionals, starring
Keith Allen and Peter Richardson as
Bonehead and Foyle.

The plot is as follows:

Janie, daughter of DI5's suspended
Commander Jackson (Robbie Coltrane),
is kidnapped by the ruthless
'Light-ent' hit squad.
In absolute desperation, Jackson
contacts Bonehead and Foyle who 0
deduce that they are looking for two
pub entertainers (Alana Pellay and
Jimmy Fagg).
Amid this thin plot, there is some
superb TV tough guy stereotyping.

Richardson and Allen bear an
uncanny resemblance to Lewis Collins
and Martin Shaw (The Professionals),
right down to the clothing and hair.
TV tough guy clothes include wearing
your shirt (whose collars equal the
wing span of a jumbo jet) opened to
reveal hairy chest (no medallion),
cowboy boots and bikini underpants.
Never walk, run everywhere. Shout,
don't talk. Steal cars and scream
at passers-by. No one, but no one
gets in the way of the Bullshitters.

THE BULLSHITTERS
Foyle is a keep-fit, health food
addict or as Bonehead calls him, "a
yoghurt-swilling pillock".
Bonehead talks dirty and thinks he's
a ladies man but later admits that
he is madly in love with Foyle - and
the feelings are reciprocated.

Apparently they weren't both
involved in the disgraceful "Russian
Gay Serum plot" for nothing, which
is what had them dismissed from DI5
in the first place.

The Bullshitters (tomorrow at 10pm)0
will most likely not offend The 0
Professionals-addicts amongst us,
but rather it is amusing to see all
the idiosyncracies magnified.
Robbie Coltrane is superb as Jackson
as is his daughter Fiona Hendley
who turns from a nice middle-class
actress into a raucous pub singer by
her captors.
Richardson and Allen takes the
Bullshitters where no TV tough guys
have gone before...and it's damn
good fun!

NEWS ABOUT 4
This Wednesday's late movie is Time
Bandits, the television premiere of
Terry Gilliam's surrealistic comedy-
fantasy.
Craig Warnock stars as a young boy
snatched from his suffocating
suburban existence for a series of
bizarre adventures in time and space
by a bunch of renegade dwarves.
The international cast includes Sean
Connery, Shelley Duvall, Katherine
Helmond, Michael Palin, Ralph
Richardson and John Cleese.
