FOR
MONDAY
FRANKENSTEIN'S SUCCESSORS
Making our picture of Jesus
we should not do
what Frankenstein's successors
might do in the future:
genetically manipulate mankind
to make a perfect being.
Jesus did not come as a superman
an ideal example of a good person
or defeating the forces of evil
as a master of the universe.
He made errors, doubted, feared, wept.
His coming was not Man becoming God,
humanity idealised,
but God becoming Man and working
through fragile, frail humanity.

WHAT ON EARTH IS THE CHURCH FOR ?
END OF ROUND 1: FIRST CONCLUSIONS
In a heated discussion last night
on Pennine Radio it was said
church people ought to stop saying
"What is the Church doing about-" or
"The Church should make a stand on-"
we should watch our pronouns...
the Church is not them or you.
It is us.
And we should remember where we
as a church are called to help others
we are called to be yeast:
the words of Jesuus suggest we are here
not to make all the world leaven
but make us all better bread.

THE SECOND SET OF QUESTIONS
"WHAT DID JESUS COME FOR ?"
Mary Whitehouse's answer
on Essex Radio last night:
"Jesus came to interpret God to us
so that we can live and work for him
in his power".
"WHAT DIFFERENCE DOES JESUS MAKE
IN OUR LIVES ?"
Jacki Arnot Of Chelmsford's reply:
on the Radio Essex phone-in:
"Christ has changed me so much
I would be unrecognisable
to those who knew me before".
