BABY BOOMERS MAKE 'NEW AGE' A HIT
New Age music, a sort of soft, jazz-
classical crossover, is taking off in a
big way here in The States.
Record Marketing people have discovered
that the 'baby boom' has created a
large audience for a softer version of
the 'intelligent' rock baby boomers
listened to as teenagers. Consequently
a whole load of artistes have been
labelled New Age for marketing purpose
including KITARO and TERRY RILEY, in
spite of the fact that the likes of
KEITH JARRET, MIKE OLDFIELD and ENO
have been doing it for years. more >

ROCK HALL OF FAME - A THREE WAY RACE
San Francisco has been eliminated from
the competition to act as host city fgr
the proposed permanent Rock and Roll
Hall of Fame Museum.
The three cities left in the running
are Cleveland, Chicago and
Pennsylvania, although Cleveland is
still very much the firm favourite.
■ A national US Newspaper recently
logged some 130,000 calls from
Clevelanders taking part in a phone
poll of eight cities vying for the
