Swansea University Computer Society
The Swansea University Computer Society (SUCS) is a society at the University of Swansea which offers
Students studying at the University with accounts on a number of servers (currently three). We offer
access to the internet, e-mail, BBS and facilities for users to have their own Web Pages.

Becoming a member
It couldn't be simplier, basicily get in contact with me (see contacting me) give me your details
and 2 UK pounds and it's yours. (Only available to students at the University).
Using our BBS
You don't have to be a member of the computer society to use our bulleten board system (Milli-ways)
all you have to do is telnet to it and create a new account.

The computers
Our computers all run a version of UNIX, normally Linux,
which is a mainly text based operating system, although don't let that put you off joining, we run
tutorials to tell you how to do things and give you some documentation to tell you how to get
started.
SUCS (sucs.swansea.ac.uk)
This computer is a 486 and this computer is mainly used for administration work and it forms the
router for our sub network, we perfer users to use the other machiens, but we have not restricted
access. It currently has Redhat Linux 4,0 installed.
Galaxy (galaxy.sucs.swan.ac.uk)
This is the oldest and most respected of our machines, we push this little 386 to the limits and beyond,
we have bolted loads of bits onto it, I believe that some one has even painted go fatser stripes on it!
(joke). This computer is mainly used by user to check their mail and to use our BBS (Milli-ways)
Sunrise (sunrise.swan.ac.uk)
This computer is a sun sparc and has recently recieved a new operating system on it
(Redhat 4.1 sparc Linux) and is commonly used by a number of our users, inparticular
we have the lastest version of tinyfuge (tf) running enabling people to play muds.
