A computer science graduate with a passion for technology. Particularly interested in mobile devices, networking and security. Active in the open source community, member of the British Computer Society, senior member of the Swansea University Computer Society. Firm advocate of free and open source software with several years of experience using various distributions of Linux, particularly Ubuntu. Strong Object-Oriented programmer, particularly in Java but also in C++, Ruby and Python. - Skills - - Experienced programmer with knowledge of technologies including (but not limited to) Java, C, C++, Ruby, Python, PHP, VB, ASP, SQL, XML, C#, .NET; - High-level of general computer literacy; - Experience with various project management tools, UML, development environments and version control using SVN and CVS; - Competence with and broad knowledge of multiple operating systems, including GNU/Linux, BSD and Windows; - Experience with Linux server administration including LDAP and Apache. - Knowledge of Microsoft Exchange Server. - Excellent communication skills, both written and oral; - Confident public speaker. - Positions of Responsibility - (January 2007 - Present) Became a Google campus ambassador, a voluntary position involving the organisation of Google-funded socials for computer science students. (2006 - 2007) Elected for the executive committee of the Swansea University Computer Society where I have gained direct experience of running an organisation of over 200 members. (January 2006 - May 2006) Group Leader of a university programming team, working to produce a theoretical mass-spectrometry application. Gained knowledge and practical experience of software engineering principles and leadership.
