Six people were killed in Indonesia
when thousands of people surged into a
hall to deliver applications for jobs.
Many others where injured in the
stampede in the East Java provincial
capital of Surbaya where 1200 civil
service jobs had been advertised.
A BBC correspondent says the tragedy
highlights the growing unemployment
problem in Indonesia - regarded as the
most serious threat to the country's
economic and social stability.
More than two million people are
joining the workforce each year.
