Premonition by PETER FRAMPTON
PETER FRAMPTON hasn't been around that
much since the extraordinary success of
his excellent live double album
"Frampton Comes Alive" released back in
the lates seventies. That is still one
of the biggest selling albums of all
time, but he hasn't matched that sort
of success since and has been silent
for the last four years.
Which is why it would have been nice to
have been able to welcome this album
with open arms. It WOULD have been

Premonition by PETER FRAMPTON
Sadly PETER FRAMPTON seems to have lost
the energy, the creative spark evident
in the days of "...Comes Alive". And
while "Premonition" sounds like an
attempt to bring him up to date, what's
clear is that the 80s are not for PETER
FRAMPTON.
He's a guitar player, and a good one
(his guitar even features, beautifully
photographed on the inner sleeve). Yet
this production seems by and large to
ignore that fact, dressing up every
track instead with the standard GO
WEST-style blazing synthesiser.

Premonition by PETER FRAMPTON
This is any standard American rock
album - fast, furious with over-the-top
insensitive production leaving little
room for the few good songs to breathe.
Saved only by some superb drumming from
the AVERAGE WHITE BAND's STEVE FERRONE
(particularly on the track "Hiding From
A Heratache"), it's going to take more
than "Premonition" to bring FRAMPTON
back to life again.
