"veggy" diet, courtesy of Weight
Watchers Magazine.
A tempting diet to follow, with lots of
different dishes, that will soon get
rid of those unwanted pounds, winter's
stodgy food has probably helped you
gain, and as with our last diet plan,

THE "VEGGY" DIET - HOW IT WORKS...
Each day have a breakfast of fruit,
cereal and milk or yogurt and to round
out lunch and dinner there's an extra
allowance of pasta, rice or bread and
also some fresh fruit, plus a daily
milk allowance and black coffee or tea.
BREAKFASTS
Every day have a breakfast of fruit, a
small bowl of muesli or cereal with
milk or yogurt and black tea or coffee.
DAILY ALLOWANCES: 5 oz fruit: peach,
orange, melon, etc. Half pint skimmed
milk, plus 5 fl oz natural yogurt and
either 2oz of potatoes, pasta or rice.

LUNCH: DAY 1
CHIVE AND CHEESE SALAD
7 ½ oz (175g) cottage cheese with
chopped chives and as much salad as
you want, made from lettuce, cucumber,
tomatoes, radishes and spring onions.
Serves with 2 tsps of low-calorie salad
dressing.
DINNER:
LENTIL CASSEROLE
9 oz (250g) cooked lentils, 3 oz (75g)
each of sliced courgettes, mushrooms
and onion with 1 tbs of parsley. Saute
vegetables in 1 tbs of vegetable oil,
in a large pan, add the parsley and
lentils and ¼ pt (125ml) water, heat
through till hot and serve. more >

LUNCH: DAY 2
OPEN TOMATO SANDWICH
Two level tbs of peanut butter spread
on one 1oz (25g) wholemeal bread from
allowance topped with a sliced tomato
and as much green salad as you like.
DINNER:
MEXICAN MEDLEY (Serve hot or cold)
9 oz X250g) cooked red kidney beans,
3 oz (75g) finely grated carrot, 1 oz
(25g) grated cheese. Place in an oven
- proof dish and cook for 30 minutes in
a medium oven.
