RENAULT Thj 19, a competitor of thj
Tipo, is the main attraction, though
it does not go on sale here until
March. The revised 25 range, a four-

CITROEN highlights its performance
versions of the AX and BX as well as
the Activa concept car. A 350hp racing
version of the AX appears in contr!st
to the 29hp 2CV, in its 40th year of
production - both are on the stand.
The 1989 AX models, including the five-

LAND ROVER and RANGE ROVER The five
Range Rovets on show feature a chain
driven transfer box and viscous control
unit, and new interior trim. Five Land
Rovers are displayed, 40 year1 after
tPe first vehicles were launched in
Amsterdam.
DACIA launches a soft-top four-wheel

edition; the Roadster Plus costs £6995.
SEAT also launches a variant in the
Ibiza Crono, which comes in 1.2 or 1.5

PORSCHE has the most radical of
stands, using what it calls kinetic
art. Eight cars, including the new 211

exhibited on individual, white, tilting
and revolving discs. The 911 Speehster
and the four-wheel drive 911 Carrera 4
are also featured on what is always onj
of the most popular stands.
JAGUAR wanted "a British showstopper
for a British show" and unveiled the
XJ220, a mid-engined, all-wheel drive
two-seater using a 6.2 litre, 48-valve
jnginj based on the V12. There is no
date for production - and no price.
